J Dilla : Rebirth of Detroit

J Dilla : Rebirth of Detroit

Jay Dee aka J Dilla died a few years ago from complications of lupus, but left the world a legacy of musical prowess and provided tracks to some of the greats like Busta Rhymes & Raekwon as well have collaborated with fellow beatsmiths/producers like Madlib on the album Jaylib – Champion Sound. One of Dilla’s truest classics was his The “Ruff Draft” where you can tell that album was made from the heart and soul of the artist. And now J Dilla lives on thru his music and with this lastest promethous project called “Rebirth of Detroit” featuring the likes of a lot Detroit’s finest MCs & Musicians whom where influenced by J Dilla from Phat Kat, Esham to Legendary Amp Fiddler to Supa Emcee,Guilty Simpson and producer Nick Speed.

The Rebirth of Detroit is a listening that I felt as a music lover can enjoy as well a rap head or beat fiend can enjoy all the different type of musical listeners were able to enjoy Dilla’s approach to his music. Some of the tracks that stand out like DILLATroit featuring Guilty Simpson, Nick Speed & Supa Emcee all ripping and sonically melding well with the Dilla classic back drop. Dilla was known for his hard drums and solid use of various other percussion and it shows on Let’s Pray Together feat. Amp Fiddler and while you feel what Dilla was able to do with just beats alone and showed as a producer you knew how he work with the artist and that what is missed with Dilla.

Overall Dilla production is an amazing listen live, vinyl, cd, cassette tape or even MP3 or on ya ipod Dilla thrives and makes the artist that are on his track strive. An even from beyond the grave I feel Dilla’s legacy isn’t just music its to strive to do ya best in no matter what cha do. This album is solid 5 out of 5, its rare rating im a drop on this but the production was smooth, solid and no skipping was allowed, this can be bumped any time and any where at any moment that’s how dope it is.

Rating: 5 out of 5
