This song was written in response to the rapid gentrification happening in Oakland, CA. Leave a comment on your experience with gentrification in your area.
With that said, my neighborhood in Brooklyn has changed so much. Some things are good, but seems like they no longer want us in the neighborhood anymore. Businesses are catering to one specific group and cops are protecting the same group, while harassing everyone else. I honestly feel NY as a whole is losing its character, if it hasn’t already and I think it’s because of all the out of towners trying to change it. I even seen them try to change BKLYN to BRKLYN, lol. I know that’s small, but that’s still not right. In Harlem they now have SoHar and NoHar – really?? C’mon now. Anyway, I’m done.
