Afropunk just had their first Spaces LA event at Gloria Molina Grand Park in DTLA. This event is part of their Sunday Session series. Two more to follow this Summer!

It was beautiful outside, not too hot blue skies, partly cloudy. I arrived a little late so missed the first few performances. As we walked across the grass there were a nice mount of people chillin, with blankets out, food, drinks and having fun.

We set up and straight to the bar we went, lol. They had a separate section for alcohol drinks, which was a little inconvenient, but I understand. Anyway, we went had a drink behind a metal fence preventing people from leaving the area.

Now time to shoot. King Isis hits the stage and does a nice set of some of her new music. This was my first time hearing her and I liked what I heard. I will be looking out for her. Following her was a DJ set by WaveIQ, that did his thing and rocked the crowd.

Next up, Seafood Sam. Also new to me, he did his thing. I enjoyed his set. Will definitely keep an eye out on him. After Sam, came sets by Starrza and Blue the Great. They both had the crown dancing the night away!

To me, the stand out of the night came from, Your Grand Parents. They have a dope sound that just captured the crowd. You saw the crowd move to the stage and fill up pretty fast. They have a infused sound of chill R&B, along with Hip-Hop. They are a group I will be following.

Last was Samaria, she also had a nice crowd, although I feel she came on as some people were leaving. Her set was cool. My friend was familiar with her music and enjoyed it.

Always a good time at any Afropunk event, see you at the next one!
